To test that the link exchange script will work on your server just make a folder on your web site you want to use for your link exchange directory and give it 'write all' permissions. This just gives the directory the ability to copy files from our server when the main script is uploaded.
Just copy the script in the text box below and save it as test.php then upload it to the directory you have made and then call the script up by going to it in your browser.
It just returns three lines.
Line 1 - This just gives you the path to the directory and is not important.
Line 2 - This shows if the directory will allow the link pages to be written to it. It should say 'Yes' if it says 'No' then you need to alter your directory permissions to 'write all'. Should you not know how to do this have a word with the supplier of your web space.
Line 3 - Our main script on your server copies over the files from our server so it needs the ability to FTP into our server. Sometimes the server you are on might need the php permissions to be altered to allow the script to work. If you get a 'No' here then just ask your supplier to 'enable php to ftp'.
Should you be able to see the answers both 'Yes' and 'No' then it means that php is not enabled on your server and you need to ask your web space provider to enable it.
Just highlight the script below and copy it into your PC saving it as test.php and then transfer it into your new links directory. Then just call it up in your browser by going to where you uploaded it on your web site and it will tell you if you need to do anything to run our link script on your server.
Please leave the script in place as we will need to see it working before we can make your link exchange directory.
